Pharmacy Technician Jobs can have some pretty tough interview questions. We have come up with a list of the top 10 questions we have recieved during actual inteviews and some suggested responses that might help you land the postion you are looking for. 1.) Can you relate a suggestion you made to your employer and had that suggestion implemented in the workplace?
Answer: This is a very common question as most employers want to know if you can help them improve their business. The best answer is something simple that you can explain with examples of how it helped improve the workplace.
2.) Why did you decide to choose pharmacy technician as a career path?
Answer: This is a very personal answer and what the interviewer is usually looking for is some sign of dedication to your work. If you say because the money is good that may be an honest answer but a better answer would be your desire to work in a field that pays well and allows you to help people.
3.) If you could choose to be any drug which drug would you choose?
Answer: This is one of the creative type questions. We recommend using this as an oppurtunity to lighten the mood of the interview with a joke or semi-serious answer. How about choosing something that shows your lighthearted nature. Perhaps a drug like Lipitor because everyone could use it in their life.
4.) Have you ever recieved a poor performance report from an employer and what did you do to improve?
Answer: Again this is something personal and don’t just blow this off as your interviewer wants to know if you can take criticism and use it to improve.
5.) What accomplishment as a pharmacy technician are you most proud of?
Answer: If you are just starting out you may not have an answer for this yet but if you have been in the field awhile i would recommend a story about helping a customer understand how to use their medicine. This will show your customer service skills and that you generally care about people.
6.) While you were in school what were your favorite subjects in the pharmacy field?
Answer: If you have had training as a pharmacy technician choose your favorite class as long as it wan’t study hall you should be ok.
7.) Have you ever had to supervise others in any of your previous positions?
Answer: This work history question lets the interviewer know you can supervise others and delegate duties as needed.

Answer: This is a great way to show you know how to determine what are important tasks and what is busy work that can be done anytime.
9.) What is the most recient drug product that you have read about and what do you know about its use?
Answer: You should definitely study up on some commone medicines before the interview so you can flash your knowledge on this subject. They won’t expect you to know everything but pick something here you know a lot about as you can bet there will be follow up questions on this drug.
10.) Why do you think you are a great person to fill this position?
Answer: This is usually asked at the end of the interview and is your chance to leave an impression. Let them know hiring you would be a great decision.
We have had many interviews for pharmacy technician jobs and the main things we learned were to be yourself and don’t be afraid to say you don’t know the answer. Your prospective employer doesn’t expect you to know everything about how their pharmacy works right away but they do expect you to be honest and a fast learner. When you do land that job you have been looking for find the pharmacy tech that has been there the longest and try to follow along with them and learn all of their tricks as they know the customers and the products the best.
